First knife crime workshop In Darlington

Darlington are working in partnership with the Damilola Taylor Trust, the Home Office, Department for Education and Skills and other partner agencies to support a national anti-knife and weapons campaign that forms part of the Damilola Taylor Trust’s ‘Respect Your Life not a Knife Campaign’.
In a bid to stop young people carrying knives, Darlington has launched the hard-hitting anti-weapons campaign, warning young people: “Knives are not cool, they kill.”

As part of the initiative, young people are urged to make an anti-knife pledge. Almost 4,000 schools across the UK have been encouraged to take part in the scheme by putting up pledge walls.

It is hoped displays, made up of poems, thoughts and comments made by the children, will encourage communication and enforce the dangers of carrying knives.
